What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction

Initial Reaction -
My immediate reaction when I watch this video is how beautiful the scenery is. I, personally, love the beach. So this attracts me and pulls me in wanting to watch more.

Analysis and interpretation -
The director of this specific music video just wanted the boys to have fun. He had known that the boys of One Direction were 5 fun loving boys who loves fooling around and wanted to capture that within their first single's video. This video shows both female and male teenagers having fun, and that is what he intended to show. Personally, I think that it is aligned with gospel values as God put us on this earth to love one another and live in peace within a community.

Consideration of cultural context -
A simple event such as liking a girl and calling her beautiful, but she didn't believe you could have influenced this song and video. In a specific part in the video you witness one of the members of One Direction [Harry Styles] singing to the girl. He is telling her how beautiful she is, and how she lights up the world.

Expression of aesthetic judgement -
The music video is supposed to attract a teenage audience. I feel as if the lyrics and the story line work perfectly together because we can all relate. We all have the desire to have fun with our friends whether it be on the beach or not, and we also start getting different feelings and attractions to others at this age.

Ongoing reflection -
As I've said, the song is very fun. The beat allows you to dance to it and sing along. The boys of One Direction are ironically good looking, which may attract young girls to the video as well. Fortunately, they have amazing voices to match their astonishingly good looks.
